INDUS VALLEY CIVILIZATION

Initially this civilization was known as Harappan civilization because earliest excavations were done at Harappa.

Harappa is located in Pakistan now .
The Harappan culture was present in the Sindh and Punjab.

But later on many cities discovered in this region so it was changed to Indus valley civilization.

Some cities which were founded in this region were Kalibangan, Ropar, Banawali, Lothal, Surkotada, and Dholavira.

Mohenjodado was the largest city at that time.

Economy

The peoples in this civilization were prefers Agriculture as their primary occupation for their life cycle.

Other than Agriculture there were many branches for the economy such as Pottery.

Many painted equipments were found in the Digging.

The art on the pots was impressive this shows the actual talents in the ancient people of India.

Town planning


The town planning of Indus civilization was grid system. That means the rooms were arrenged in the row and column perfectly.

The underground drainage system was present at that time.

Below the citadel, a lower township were built containing brick houses for common people.

Religion

They believe on the god named as Pashupati (proto Shiva) and Mother goddess represented in the terracota figurines.

 They were use the seals for official work
The seals were made up of soft stone and polished by white luster. This luster was the discovery of the Indus valley people.

Deterioration of the valley

The society was grown up to 1800 to 1850 BC but later it began to decline. There no perfect reason for the declination of the Indus Valley but experts logics that this civilization was destroyed due to flood, climate change, epidemic or war.
